Terms of Service & Privacy Policy

Welcome to CChat (the “Service”), a private messaging application. By creating an account or using CChat, you agree to these Terms of Service and to the Privacy Policy below. If you do not agree, please do not use CChat.

1. Who can use CChat

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use CChat. By using the Service you confirm that you can form a binding agreement and that you are not barred from using it under any applicable law.

2. Your account

CChat accounts are tied to a phone number. You are responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your device secure. Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to use CChat to:

break the law or infringe anyone’s rights;
send spam, malware, or unsolicited bulk messages;
harass, threaten, or harm others;
distribute content that is illegal where you or your recipients are located;
attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer for abuse, or gain unauthorized access to the Service.

We may suspend or remove accounts that violate these rules or that put the Service or other users at risk.

4. Your content

You own the content you send. CChat does not claim ownership of your messages. Because your messages are end-to-end encrypted (see Privacy), we cannot read them and cannot moderate their contents; you are solely responsible for what you send.

5. Service availability

CChat is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that messages will always be delivered. Features may change or be discontinued over time.

6. Disclaimer & limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CChat and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. The Service is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

7. Open-source software

CChat is built on free and open-source software licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License v3 (AGPLv3). The complete corresponding source code, including our modifications, is available at cchat.pro/source.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

Privacy Policy

End-to-end encryption

Your messages and calls are end-to-end encrypted. This means they are encrypted on your device and can only be read by you and the people you are communicating with. We cannot read your messages, listen to your calls, or access their contents.

What we collect

Phone number — used to create your account and help your contacts find you.
Account & technical data — minimal information needed to operate the Service, such as the date you registered and basic delivery information. We aim to store as little metadata as possible.
Profile information you choose to add — such as a display name or avatar.

What we do not do

We do not sell your data.
We do not read your messages or use their contents for advertising.
We do not require your real name, email, or social-media accounts.

Sharing

We do not share your personal information with third parties except as required to operate the Service or to comply with valid legal obligations. Because messages are end-to-end encrypted, we are unable to disclose their contents.

Data retention

We keep account information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the app, which removes your account information from our systems.
